Birthday Party FAQ
At Where the Wild Things Play there is no limit for your child’s imagination, but for parties and events we have a few guidelines we respectfully ask all guests to follow to ensure everyone visiting has a great time. What’s the difference between party level packages?
Hedgehog – This is our most basic party package. We provide three clusters of balloons, tablecloths for the party table, a Where the Wild Things Play party banner, and return pass for the guest of honor.
Fox – The fox package includes everything in the Hedgehog package, but adds food. The package includes three large cheese pizzas, pizza plates, white napkins, one snack per child, and one juice box per child. Additional food can be added to this package.
Bear – This is our all-inclusive party package. It includes everything in the Hedgehog and Fox, plus party décor, a party favor for each child, and a dozen cupcakes with themed cupcake topper. Choose from any of our in-house themes, updated on our “parties” page. Custom themes are also available.
How does a typical party run?
Our parties are two hours in length, and include 1.25 to 1.5 hours of open play, followed by time in the party room. We enjoy all food consecutively (pizza / meal first, followed by cupcakes or cake) as the open play floor closes once children go back to the party room.
Can I bring outside food and beverage?
Yes! During parties, we ask that all food is served and consumed in the party room. We don’t allow any food on the green carpeted areas. There is a $25.00 service fee for outside food and beverage.
Will I need to pay for extra guests?
Each of our party packages includes up to 12 children and up to 24 adults. There is a fee for each additional child above 12 (children under 12 months are always free). The price per child varies by party package. The price for additional adults is $8.00 each.
The maximum number of guests per party are 18 children and up to 36 adults.
Will my party take place during open play or privately?
All 10am parties take place during open play, and all 1:30pm and 4:30pm parties are fully private. We also accept weekday party reservations. Any party taking place during the window of 9am – 3pm on a weekday will be during open play, while anything in the late afternoon or evening would be private.
Can I extend my party beyond two hours?
Please contact us at least two weeks before your party to determine if we have availability to extend your party. When available, the 10am party can begin as early as 9am (9am – 12pm party time), and the 4:30pm party can be extended by an hour (4:30 – 7:30pm party time). The 1:30pm party unfortunately cannot be extended.
Will I have extra time to remove decorations after my party?
Our party windows are two hours. Our party hosts are happy to assist you with removing decor and bringing your belongings to your car at the conclusion of your party. We recommend planning your decor selections with the two-hour timeframe in mind. We allow for a maximum 10 minute grace period to remove all items from the party room, but as we host multiple parties in a day, we do charge a $50.00 penalty for all parties that go beyond that grace period.
Can I bring my own decor?
Yes! We do have a few guidelines, though. All décor should remain in the party room, and we do not allow tape, tacks, or adhesive of any kind on our walls. We also don’t allow for helium balloons, pinatas, or confetti of any kind.
Can I come early to decorate?
We invite our party hosts to arrive up to 20 minutes before your party to arrange décor. Due to often full party schedules, we unfortunately can’t guarantee that setup can begin any earlier than 20 minutes prior to your party. We invite you to drop off limited décor ahead of time for our staff to arrange (one party banner, table top décor, plates, and up to two hanging items to hang on either side of the cupcake table). We just ask that all items are preassembled before drop off.
Can I hire a personal party decorator?
Yes! But the same rules apply regarding arrival time (20 minutes prior) and set up of décor (no tape, tacks, or adhesive on our walls). We suggest your decorator preassembles everything off-site, allowing for easier set up on the day of the party. We also unfortunately can’t accommodate the use of balloon machines in our space during open play.
Do you offer themes?
Yes! We offer several in house themes, but we LOVE bringing to life any and all themes! Custom themes can be added to any party package.
What can we do prior to our party to streamline check-in?
We recommend sharing the party waiver link and play policies with guests ahead of time.

Please supervise your children while they’re in our space. Our staff will be tidying toys and ensuring the space remains free of debris on the floor or spills/messes but it is the parents’ responsibility to monitor their children to be sure they are following our policies. This includes time in the party room. An adult should be present and monitoring children at all times while they’re in the party room.
